Jay Chou’s new CD

jay + pink pony

I think at some point in Jay Chou’s career, some Americans really offended him. His new album, On the Run, includes a track called “Cowboy On the Run,” which is kind of funny but at the same time kind of disturbing. I was already weirded out that it was a Chinese country song and then I saw the video and it makes me question his sanity. That song in particular…I think takes some time to get used to. The album as a whole is pretty good (Luckily, there is only one country song.) but I didn’t feel like it was as good as his last two. There were only maybe one or two songs that stood out to me and the rest just kind of have all the same elements as old songs of his, which isn’t totally a bad thing because I do like his sound. I like the album aside from the pink pony and cowboy stereotypes, but I don’t quite love it. I still think he’s great though and I thought he was brave for changing it up a little.

Anyway, I was watching Gilmore Girls today and found this line that Lorelai said to be very true:
“I’m afraid when your heart is involved, it all comes out in moron.”
