This song has always been a fave of mine. If you aren’t willing to click the link, it’s Aaron Kwok’s “Love’s Call (ai de hu huan)” Such nice lyrics, very lovely story. What’s weird is the disparity between the connotations of the lyrics of the Mandarin version and the Cantonese version. I didn’t realize they were almost two completely different songs sharing the commonality of one thing: the call of love. The Mandarin version seems more mellow, a little less passionate, and I guess a bit more sorrowful, if that combo makes any sense. Maybe I’m just really bad at comprehension but that’s what I’m getting from it. One thing I love about this song is the melody. It’s sort of reminiscent of “Unchained Melody” but much more incomplete, especially at the beginning. You keep waiting for a certain note but it just doesn’t come and the music keeps going. There’s a name for that but I can’t remember it. The first thing that comes to my head when watching this specific video, though, is…Dang, those are some big arse phones! Seriously they’re like the size of house phones.

Just watched Better Off Dead by the way. Love John Cusack. Some of the things he says are just so great. I think they’re trying to turn Michael Cera into the next John Cusack. Has someone already made that connection? Just Googled it; yes, they have. But I think the two should be kept separate because Lloyd Dobler will never be replaced in my heart. He’s someone who is very awkward but has some really awesome quirks, whereas Michael Cera’s characters are quirky because they’re awkward. Big difference, I says.

Also watched the Hangover last week. Very hilarious. You’ve probably heard that plenty of times already.

By the way, UP was freaking awesome. I loved it so so so much and it made me cry. A lot. Like buckets. Pixar, you never disappoint.

In other news, I graduated the weekend before this past. ‘Twas fun. It was a bummer because I finally made a friend in my major and we were going to sit together and, of course, we were split into separate rows. I got yelled at by the person seating us because I tried to sit in the next row with my new pal. The keynote speaker at the college graduation was amazinggg. He didn’t take it super seriously because he was aware that the guitarist from Linkin Park was not exactly the face of the band and that he was sort of a last minute replacement. I thought it was perfect though. He made us laugh and that’s better than just throwing out some inspirational words you’ll forget within a few hours. He also sang us a snippet from Britney Spears’ “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman” to let us know it’s quite okay not to know where you stand in this world at the moment. Brad Delson. Yays.

In more other news, movin’ out of my apartment next week for good. Oh, 204, you were good to us. :(

  • So sad you guys are moving out of our beloved college home!!! I can’t believe it’s the end!!! =[

In other things, Better Off Dead is really quite brilliant (how can you beat dancing, singing hamburgers?), John Cusack is amazing, and Lloyd Dobler is perfection. The end.
